To give your nails a neat look, you need a maximum of desire and a minimum of tools. To create a unique image – you need imagination, a little talent, and material for work. Today we will talk about what traditional manicure techniques are popular in the modern nail industry and nail supply a novice master needs to do a full-fledged manicure at home.
Types of manicure
Generally speaking, a manicure is divided into medical, cosmetic, decorative, and permanent (long-term). And if the first aims to improve nails, then other types of a manicure are focused on the aesthetic component, in most cases, without disregarding the issue of nutrition and strengthening nails. Medical, or therapeutic, a manicure is indicated for fungal infections of the nail plate and some other diseases. It is performed under sterile conditions, everything is carefully sterilized, and the nail is covered with a therapeutic composition. As for the other three types of nail care, there are many options, and below we will talk about each of them.
1. Classic manicure (cuticle cut off)
This is the most common type of nail care. To carry it out, the cuticle is first softened, then moved away with tweezers or a spatula and cut off with sharp scissors or special nippers. Finally, nutrient mixtures are applied to the nail plate and cuticle.
Plus: even running nails will look neat.
Minus: with insufficiently accurate work, the cuticle can be damaged, resulting in keratinization, start more intensive growth, which will create a number of problems in the future.
2. European unedged manicure
Also well-known to our women is the way of caring for nails. Its difference from the previous one lies in the fact that the cuticle is softened with a remover and gently pushed back with a special stick, without the use of cutting objects.
Plus: this method of cleansing the nail plate is absolutely harmless.
Cons: With hardened cuticles, it can be quite difficult to give your nails a well-groomed look with just a European manicure.
3. Japanese manicure
The peculiarity of the oriental art of hand care is that the master tries to emphasize the natural beauty of the nails. Bright colors and fanciful forms are out of place here: natural color, soft sheen, and natural feminine charm are the main components of Japanese manicure.
Oriental masters move from one stage to another:
A multicomponent composition is applied to the cuticle, after which it becomes soft and easily pushed back;
On the cleaned nail plate, the master applies a special therapeutic and nutritional composition that saturates the tissues with useful substances and fills in microcracks, making the nail healthier and stronger;
At the next stage, mineral powder and a special buff with a suede surface are used.
After the procedure, the shine of the nails can be compared to the soft glow of pearls: the nails look well-groomed, beautiful, and, at the same time, natural.
4. Spanish manicure
The peculiarity of this manicure is not in technology but in design. Technically, the whole process repeats the European manicure, but bright, contrasting colors are used here, which, slightly carelessly, layering on top of each other, form catchy stripes – vertical, horizontal, or diagonal.
5. Brazilian manicure
Here everything is fundamentally different from the usual procedures for us: if you have a Brazilian manicure, get ready for relaxation and complete immersion in the world of pleasant sensations. This is not the fastest manicure option, and it involves several stages:
- The skin of the hands softens in warm water;
- Nails are processed to give them the desired shape and a fairly smooth surface of the nail plate;
- Then the skin and nails are richly nourished with cream. To do this, go one of two ways. First, you can thickly apply the cream to your hands and put on disposable plastic gloves. Secondly, you can soak cotton gloves with cream and put them on your hands for 20 minutes;
- A cuticle remover is applied to the cuticle, which prepares it for removal: in some cases, it is enough to push it back with an orange stick, and sometimes you can’t do without scissors;
- The Brazilian manicure is completed by a light, pleasant massage of the hands.
6. SPA manicure
SPA hand care is a unique synthesis of therapeutic, preventive, relaxation, and decorative procedures. As a rule, the master adheres to the following sequence of work:
- Relaxing baths with mineral compositions;
- Soft removal of keratinized particles;
- Brush massage with cream;
- Nourishing hand masks;
- Paraffin therapy;
- Application of a special nutritional and therapeutic composition to the nail plates.
7. Hardware manicure
A feature of hardware manicure is that all manipulations with the nail are not done manually, but with the help of a machine and rapidly rotating nozzles of various shapes and sizes. The master often changes nozzles, adjusts the speed to remove dead skin, correct the shape of the nail, etc.
Plus: subject to technology, this is a completely safe and hygienic procedure. It does not change the direction and intensity of cuticle growth, and in general, hardware manicure takes significantly less time.
Minus: the procedure must be carried out by an experienced master; you can not violate the sequence of actions; the device requires regular maintenance, and this entails additional financial costs.
