So you want to be your own boss? You think that it will be much better than slugging around for somebody else, right? Well, this article is going to tell you exactly how you can do that and be successful with it!
What is an entrepreneur? This is a person who decides to pursue a business venture on his own account, with no higher authority, and intends to make a profit for himself. Although that may seem easy, it is not!Here are some tips so that you can do things in the most effective manner.
1) KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!
Going into business having a rocky idea of what you want to do is not the move. You need to have set goals and know your exact target so that you can plan how to attack it! If you want to be a shark, you must know every single step that you wish to conquer and have a set plan on how to achieve these results. That is not to say things will go exactly as you think, but you can always go back and readjust your plan if that is the case.
2) BUILD UP EXPERIENCE IN THAT FIELD!
The best thing that you can do to market yourself is to have proven track record in the field that you are trying to enter! You can build up this track record with work experience and education. Honestly, people will tell you to focus more so on the education but it almost always comes secondary when a potential business contact or client is checking your profile. Obtain some type of degree or certificate in your field but do not make that your main focus. Get as much work experience as you can! You can do this by volunteering at companies that fit your profile, interning or even freelancing on your own account and stacking a portfolio!
3) YOU MUST HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA!
Social media is the only form of globally accessible free advertising that you have. Therefore, it would be entirely unwise to skip out on such an important aspect of your business. Thus, you need to set up a social media account for your business on every major platform and use it to the best of its ability! That means that you need to upload as much content as possible, be engaging with your followers and make sure that you are giving the best representation of your business that you possibly can.
4)HAVE A STASH OF START UP MONEY!
Having the funds to start a business seams like it would be a no brainer. However, many people start a business having little to no money and find themselves in financially compromising situations that are detremental to their business! Depending on the type of business that you want to start, you may not need that much money. However, to be safe you should always take your estimated startup cost and add 50% to that whenh saving. That way, you’ll have a nice safety net for the unexpected costs that most certainly will occur.
5) BE ENTIRELY PASSIONATE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS!
Many people do not understand the hard work that goes into being your own boss because they assume that it is all fun and games. But, it actually will have you working more hours than if you had a traditional career. You must invest into your business so that you may have the best outcome. This means that you will likely have to sacrifice your social life and other pursuits for a little while. But, in the end it is worth it when you have your booming business off the ground.
