Ideas To Take Your Picnic Date To The Next Level
In the summer, there is no better way to spend an afternoon than to go on a picnic.
But after a few picnics in quick succession, things can start to get a little stale. So whether you are a hardcore picnic lover or are looking to get the first use out of your empty hamper baskets for 2 – then we have something for you today.
We are going to share with you five ideas for fun things for you to do while you are on a picnic.
#1 – Bring Your Watercolor Paints
We love to have our picnics in beautiful locations, so why not make the most of that and make beautiful art to capture it. There is nothing more calming than sitting in the sun and painting the beautiful scene in front of you.
One of the reasons why watercolor paints work so well in a picnic situation is because they are really portable and you don’t need much to make a painting. You will have no problem fitting the paint, the brushes, and the sketchbook in your picnic basket.
This is a really fun activity that you can do with your friends or your date on a picnic and it will leave you with a physical memento from the day.
#2 – Bring A Board Or Card Game
If you are looking for a way to pass the time while out on a picnic then you should consider making some space for a board game in your picnic basket.
There are board games out there to suit everyone.
If you like adventure games, there are options like Forbidden Island or Settlers of Catan. If you like history then you could play a game like Risk. Clue allows you to solve puzzles and mysteries with your friends. Or if you are looking for a Regency-inspired game, why not pick up the Jane Austen board game.
If you’re not into board games why not bring a pack of playing cards and play some poker or even snap.
You will feel amazing after a few games in the sun.
#3 – Blend And Brew Some Loose Leaf Tea
Want to try something a little different on your next picnic, why not have you and your guests brew up a custom tea mix inspired by the day.
You can do this by packing some tea leaves, spices, herbs, and dried flowers into your picnic basket. As well as a couple of flasks full of hot water.
Everyone can then use the ingredients to make a custom tea blend. As a group, you can then brew up all these different teas and try them.
You could even turn it into a competition to see who can make the tastiest tea or you have a theme that everyone has to let inspire their teas. The winner gets the first slice of cake at dinner time.
#4 – Pack Your Portable Speaker And Dance The Afternoon Away
If sitting down all afternoon doesn’t sound like your thing then why not turn your picnic into a dance party for all ages.
All you need to do to turn your picnic into a fun afternoon of dancing is to pack a portable speaker. Or you could even splash out and get a picnic blanket that comes with a built-in bluetooth speaker.
Make sure to put together a playlist on Spotify in advance and download it just in case the signal is bad in your chosen picnic spot.
You can then dance for the whole afternoon without worrying about running out of music. Don’t forget to bring lots of water if it’s going to be a warm day.
#5 – Take A Telescope And Do Some Stargazing
Picnics don’t just have to happen in the day, especially in the summer when it is warm at night.
Why not have yourself a late evening picnic and do a little stargazing. On a clear night, you will be able to see a lot with the naked eye and you can use a stargazing app to help you identify what you are looking at.
Or if you want to take your stargazing to another level, you can take a telescope out with you. This will allow you to get a better look at some of the wonders of the night sky.
On a really clear night, you might get a good look at the milky way.
