Gigi Hadid was confirmed to walk this year’s most coveted runway – The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Yet as of Friday, it is believed the blonde model won’t be making an appearance anymore.
Not really giving any indication as to why she has decided to pull out, Gigi wrote to her followers via twitter,
‘I’m so bummed I won’t be able to make it to China this year. Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can’t wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can’t wait for next year!”
It’s all speculation at the moment as to why, but a few months back Gigi’s participation in this year’s show came under scrutiny when a video her sister Bella posted in February surfaced with her shown to be squinting her eyes, imitating Buddha. So we’re wondering if this is a result of the backlash she received?
(If you’re not up to speed on all this, have a quick read our article here.)
And although the video was swiftly taken down when it began to gain traction, and there was an apology issued to a Weibo account (believed to be hers), some are wondering whether or not it was sincere enough. And if instead, it was just a mere attempt at ‘doing good’ so as to ensure her credibility and not tarnish efforts of becoming an angel once more – especially considering this year’s location, Shanghai, China.
Needless to say, when Gigi did eventually share the news that she would be walking in this year’s show, angry fans began to surface once more. Some taking it as far as calling for both sisters to be cut; Gigi for doing it and Bella for sharing it, sharing snake emoji’s on both angels Instagram accounts.
As we said, we don’t know the real reason behind her decision, and it has also been reported that some prospective angels had to pull out due to visa’ issues, so until we have more information we can’t really share anything further.
In the end though, if there is anything to learn from this, it is that actions have consequences and everyone must always think twice before sharing on social media.
