Actor and legend Johnny Depp’s 16 year old daughter is about to be your newest obsession. Here’s why:
1. She’s got bad ass parents
Lily-Rose was cooler in utero than most people manage to be through out their whole lives. She’s the daughter of famous actor and free spirit Johnny Depp and French singer and model Vanessa Paradis. She doesn’t even have to do anything; she’s cool by association. The best part about Depp? She is so much more than her famous parents.
2. At 16, she’s already walked for Chanel
Okay, seriously? It appears that Depp skipped the dreaded awkward phase the rest of the world went through and instead fast tracked her way into one of the most coveted runways. At just 15 Lily-Rose was featured in a Chanel fashion show. Jealous.
3. She has multiple talents
It may be in her genes, but this girl has got some serious talent! LRD has already made her debut in acting; she’s already graced the screen starring in 5 films. She also debuted in a music video, looking effortlessly cool sporting a headscarf and bobbing her head along to the music in Rejjie Snow’s music video for ‘All Around the World’. In addition to acting, she’s also broke into the modeling world. Lily-Rose has walked for Chanel, and just this year graced the pages of Australian magazine Oyster. Something tells me this won’t be the last we see of her.
4. She isn’t afraid to speak up
LRD may have been born into fame but she hasn’t let it go to her head. If anything, being in the spotlight may have given her the confidence to proudly speak out about being on the spectrum in the LGBTQ community. How rad is that?! At 16 she knows what she wants, she’s learning who she is, and she’s not trying to impress you while doing it. There’s something to be said about people who’s comfortable in their own skin. Way to go Lily-Rose!
5. She’s got a killer fashion sense
Much like her dad, Depp isn’t afraid to take risks in her fashion statements. We’ve seen the young star step out in some amazing looks that went against the mainstream, and we totally respect it. Can you say trend setter?
6. She’s in touch with what matters
Unlike some young stars that were born into fame, Lily-Rose is in touch with the rest of the world and is talking about it. LRD stands for something more than fashion or fame, the star took to Instagram to get her thoughts out there. The 16 year old posted about her feelings on the income gap in America saying, “ In America we now have more income and wealth inequality than any other major country on earth, and the gap between the very rich and everyone is wider than at any time since the 1920s. The issue of wealth and income inequality is the great moral issue of our time, it is the great economic issue of our time and it is the great political issue of our time. And we will address it.”
7. She has a really cool friend group
As if LRD isn’t cool enough on her own, the model/actress has been known to hang out with Willow Smith and trans model and LGBTQ activist Hari Nef. They might give Taylor Swift’s girl gang a run for their money.
8. Her Instagram is on point
With 360,000 followers and growing, Depp is killing the instagram game. Her posts are interesting and witty. Makes for some entertaining material giving us a sneak peak into her unreal life.
9. She’s down to earth and REAL
Often times we view celebrities as these larger than life characters and forget that they are people. Really, really, cool and beautiful people, but people just the same. LRD keeps it real and helps us remember that hey, she’s a relatable person too despite her status. Humorous posts can be found on the stars instagram with a bare, make-up free face, and pimple cream on her blemishes. Gotta love the honesty!
