Physical health is at the heart of being a model; not only does one have to keep their body in shape to walk down the catwalk, but one also has to stay strong in order to handle long and tiring days, international travel and the events either side of a show.
As well as being on the top of your physical game, you also need to take care of your mental health too. The fashion industry is a famously cutthroat industry that leaves many models questioning themselves and suffering from low self-esteem. By eating well, looking after yourself and controlling stress, modelling will become much easier to handle.
Balance Nutrition for Models
When it comes to a balanced diet, everyone is different. The general rule, however, is that your diet should incorporate lots of fresh ingredients, as well as plenty of protein, vitamins and antioxidants. Stay fuller for longer with protein-rich ingredients like fish, beans and pulses.
Make sure that you also get all the vitamins you need through fresh fruit and vegetables. If in doubt, always try and make your meals as colourful as possible with all kinds of fresh produce. Soon enough, you’ll see the health benefits in your skin, hair and overall energy level.
Mental health and Self Care
Mental health something that is talked about a lot in the modelling industry, and, considering the fact that the whole industry rests on physical appearances, it’s not surprising that many models suffer. The demands of the profession are high and require models to frequently be away from their families and live out of a suitcase.
During such times, it’s important to stay grounded and cope with stress in a calm and controlled way. Find time to be alone amid the frenzy of fashion weeks and events, say no to after parties if you need to rest, and make time for things that keep you balanced, be that journalling, calling loved ones or even taking a long, hot shower.
Decluttering Home Life
It doesn’t exactly help your stress if you arrive back from a difficult job and find your house a mess. If you find that you don’t have enough space to store your stuff, it might be a sign that you have too many things and that you need to do a clear-out.
Once you’ve decided what you’re going to keep, organise it in a clean and efficient manner. With a walk-in wardrobe, you can store your clothes out of sight whilst also having a space in the house which is completely your own. Use this space to have pamper sessions, take your time to choose your outfit and enjoy time off the catwalk.
