Robyn Lawley is a plus sized model from Western Australia who is conquering the fashion industry. She has been on the cover of Vogue Italia three times and was the first ever plus-size model to cover Elle France, be shot for Vogue Australia and GQ Australia! She’s got more to offer than simply a figure on fleek and a beautiful face. She’s got hot talent. It’s no wonder that her modeling career alone has grossed her a million dollars.
Having started her career with an agency at the age of 18, she has decades of valuable industry experience. Some of the popular photographers that she has worked with include Gres Kadel, Rankin and Steven Meisel. Robyn was the first model in Mango’s Line Violeta and the first plus-size model for Ralph Lauren’s campaign. Her career has increased even more now that she is in the beauty sector. Her first beauty campaign was for Barney’s New York Holiday 2013.
She has since then launched her own swimwear line in sizes 8 (US) to 18 (US). She wished to include fun and fashionable swimwear for curvy girls that did not centre around concealing all your “flaws” but embracing the. After all, why should plus sized women feel like they can’t rock a vibrant print of a hip hugging fit just because they can’t squeeze into a size 6? Her approach led to her swimwear line having great success and really reaching the hearts of many curvy girls across the globe.
Beside her ventures in fashion design, she has also won awards such as Australian Cosmopolitan’s Fun, Rising Star Award and Fearless Female, as well as being named 2013’s Model of The Year at Full Figured Fashion Week. Her personality is said to be as beautiful as her outside aesthetic. She is known to be very amicable and down to earth, despite all of her fame and accomplishments in the industry.
Remember when all of the curvy women rejoiced over Ashley Graham being the first plus sized fashion model to land the cover of Sports Illustrated? Well, it was a similar situation with Robyn! She was the first model who is above sample size to even appear in ‘Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue’ in history. That was a large step for them and could have been the thing that eventually led to them opening up the cover to plus sized modes such as Ashley Graham. It could be said that Robyn helped set the path for curvy women in the future to be included amongst sample size models in swimwear magazines.
With so many bragging rights, she remains a humble mother and future spouse to her fiance. She continues to indulge in her hobbies of photography and cooking. This is in addition to her writing guest articles for magazines, charity work and looking to inspire young women around the world.
